At the Kansas MACE conference this month, Melanie Farmer and I shared the compiled work of TRC teachers, facilitators and students through a wiki: Interactive NETS*S. The wiki is the collaborative product of TRC teams who gathered in January to reflect and share about their current projects, lesson plans and resources of interest. TRC teams used the National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETS*S) from the Internationals Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to organize and list their project highlights within our wiki.
You will note that the focus and organizational structure of this wiki is based on instructional standards, verses tools. One of our philosophies in TRC is that technology is simply a tool to make meeting content and NETS*S standards easier. We wanted this wiki to serve as a repository where teachers can find concrete, standards-based ideas and examples that can be retooled to meet the needs of their specific students. Links to online tools and suggestions for classroom technology use are included as supplemental information.
This is an open and interactive wiki and we would love to have you add any of the projects, lesson plans or resources that you have used to meet the various NETS*S standards. Be sure to give us a picture of your project and the content/standards being addressed!
This wiki is getting ready to be jam packed with the lesson plans, videos and accompanying instructional materials that TRC teachers will be sharing at our April 28th, 2010 Celebration event. We will include a synopsis of the project, links to tools, and a PDF of the teacher authored lesson plans.
We are incredibly proud of the work that is being done in TRC across the state of Kansas and are excited to be able to share ideas, materials, and links with not only the TRC family, but any other teachers who are in the midst of innovative, digital-age instruction. Take a look and see what treasures you might uncover!
