When President Obama talked in June 2009 about connecting schools "from Cairo to Kansas," those of us who have our heart or feet in Kansas were very proud!
Since then, the Secretary of State and Secretary of Education have both emphasized the importance of learning other languages, gaining a global competency and traveling to other countries.
A number of organizations linking US schools with others around the world are coming together in a new "Connect All Schools" consortium to meet a very specific goal:
To connect every school in the US with the world by 2016.
By telling stories of what schools are already doing, additional teachers across the country can learn about specific examples and work with partner organizations to replicate the successes. Other teachers want to hear your stories!
Here's your chance to show how Kansas classrooms have had or currently have global connections.
Go to: http://www.connectallschools.org/about/participate to sign in and share YOUR story!

If you haven't connected your classroom to students outside the US before, March is when the southern hemisphere is just starting their fall semester...in Australia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, etc. In fact, students in Honduras and Costa Rica are just going back to school now! You can find global K12 teacher partners at http://www.epals.com or through other partners listed on the Connect All Schools website.
