Technology Rich Classroom Program

Preparing Today's Students for Tomorrow's World

This week is an interesting one (second to sharing all of the great Web 2.0 tools a few weeks ago) because we can learn so much from leaders. Please read chapter 7 and share insights as well as respond to at least one of the following questions:

1) Share a Web link to a school leader using Web 2.0 technologies to build community and identify strengths and challenges with this strategy of communication.

2) Explain a few strategies you use to direct change that supports 21st century skills for administrators, teachers, and students.

I look forward to seeing links to great leaders in the field.

Happy Reading :-)

2) Explain a few strategies you use to direct change that supports 21st century skills for administrators, teachers, and students.

Our district recently developed a new web portal to allow teachers and easier method for creating websites for their classes. We use Moodle, but have found we needed something less restrictive, but just as easy for our teachers. The new portal design allows them to use a website without needing to know html coding or web design.

We also developed online staff development for our staff to help them develop their skills in using technology tools, on their own time. We had received information on our needs analysis surveys that we needed to offer trainings at different times to accommodate coaches, and various others who could not attend after school. These online courses now allow them to receive the credit they need whenever they can work on them.
I help co-facilitate this LinkedIn Higher Education Teaching & Learning (HETL) sub-group:

HETL Effectiveness in Teaching and Learning

This subgroup's aim is to discuss and share information about the unique issues concerning the effectiveness of teaching and learning, in all its forms, within higher education across all academic disciplines, functions, and levels.

Any actionable distilled insights (thinkLets) from this inspired "community of practice" are welcome ...
