Students in Lamar Bergsten's and Lanis Kirk's 3rd-6th grade classes at Triplains Elementary School were inspired by the 2010 Winter Olympics to conduct their own Winter Math Olympics. The students researched the origin of the Olympics, individual countries and athletes, Students collected data and worked within groups to compile measures of central tendency. They graphed the results and compiled a final product and delivered it to peers in Healy. Students from both schools were able to correspond with each other via SKYPE, gaggle emails and blogging.
With the limited time for the video many parts of the project are not going to be seen in it so be sure to ask to see all parts of the project during round table discussions.
