SMART Lesson Development Workshop-Beginner is a full day event designed for teachers who want to learn how to create effective and engaging lesson activities while networking with other teachers in their area. The cost to attend this event is $179 USD. The Columbia Public Schools will be providing a laptop with Notebook for the day. Please bring some sort of portable memory to transfer your work from the day.
Prerequisites:
Prior to attending this training event, you are required to complete the following pre-requisites:
Review the Tutorial: SMART Notebook Software Basics in the SMART Notebook resources
Complete the following two self paced courses through the SMART Learning Space:
- SMART Notebook Getting Started (GEST_4433)
- Skill Level 1 - Engaging Students Through Discussion (ESTD)

SMART Lesson Development Workshop-Intermediate is a more advanced training event designed for teachers who want to learn about lesson evaluation, exploring the quality of lesson activities, and have a chance to network with other teachers in their area. The cost to attend this event is $199 USD. The Columbia Public Schools will be providing a laptop with Notebook for the day. Please bring some sort of portable memory to transfer your work from the day.
Prerequisites
Prior to attending this training event, you are required to complete the following pre-requisites:
Attend the SMART Lesson Development Workshop-Beginner training event or
Complete the SMART Lesson Development Workshop Beginner Challenge exam in the SMART Learning Space

Please use the instructions below to register for the SMART Lesson Development Workshops. You are required to register for two free self paced courses as well, which are the pre-requisites for the beginner session. The instructions below include how to register for all of the courses at once. Please make sure your pop up blocker is turned off before you attempt the registration process.
Log in to the SLS:
https://www.smarttech.com/us/Account/LoginIf you don’t have an account, you can sign up for one here.
https://www.smarttech.com/us/Account/RegistrationYou will be required to register for the pre-requisites first before you can proceed to the registration for the workshops.
Click on the “Certification” tab.
Click on the “Pre-Certification” link.
Click on the SMART Lesson Development Workshop link at the top to filter the results.
Click on the Register button next to the SMART Lesson Development Workshop package.
Two self paced courses will appear. Click on the Next button.
To add the Lesson Development Workshops Beginner and Intermediate sessions, click on the Continue Shopping button.
Next step, continue on to register for the beginner workshop.
Click on the Home tab on the top left hand side.
Click on the Events/Onsites tab, then choose the “Promos/PD Plus” icon.
Click on the Register button next to the Lesson Development Workshop-Beginner session that you want.
Click on the Continue Shopping button and then click on the Home tab again
If you want to register for the intermediate workshop, please continue with these directions. Otherwise, please skip to step number 13.
Repeat steps 9 and 10, except this time choose the Lesson Development Workshop-Intermediate session that you want. If you do not want to register for the intermediate session please proceed to step number
When all the courses appear in your cart, click on the Confirm button.
Use the drop down menu to select Credit Card as the payment method.
A second screen will open up to enter in the credit card information. Fill in the form and hit Save.
Once the payment appears in the Payment Details screen, click on the Place Order.
Once you have successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation email. To access the self paced pre-requisite courses, please go to the “My Learning” tab at the top left corner, and they will be in your “In Progress Learning” section. Please note that you must complete each self paced course in one sitting, as the SLS does not save your progress.
