Technology Rich Classroom Program

Preparing Today's Students for Tomorrow's World

Prosperity Elementary 6th grade students participated in a contest established by the Reno County Health Department.  They were inspired by their science curriculum which makes students aware of harmful effects that smoking has on the human body.  Students learned how to evaluate websites to validate their research and how to create a podcast using Garageband. All teachers: Mrs. Dunning, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Ketchum and Mr. Harris; as well as Mrs. Gilley facilitated the integration of language arts, science, and reading during this project.  Students decided on the content, wrote scripts and created their podcasts.  At the end of the project, the Health Department came to the school and awarded students for best projects and their participation in making a difference within the community.  The winning projects will be played on local radio stations in the area.
