Students in Lindsay Jacobs' and Natalie Page's 4th grade classrooms at Irving Elementary have taken a "traditional" project and spiced it by focusing on Science and Technology standards. The students researched and then demonstrated Newton's Laws of Motion. Then, they applied what they had learned to create an egg drop container. Applying what they learned students created a container that would protect a delicate egg as it was dropped from a determined height. Students then wrote a description with step-by-step directions of how their container was constructed. The description was then given to a cooperating class of 4th graders in Wichita that tried to design the container using only the description. Students then compare the containers and the results of the egg drops.
