Kansas City's TechNet (
http://kctechnet.org/ ) is hosting its fourth annual conference: Connecting and Constructing Knowledge, Friday, February 12th, 2010, from 8:00 - 4:00. The conference will be held at Liberty High School, 200 Blue Jay Drive, Liberty, MO 64068.
The keynote presenter will be Ben Wilkoff (
http://learningischange.com/authentic-learning/bio/ ) speaking on authentic learning through technology and pedagogy. "Students crave a contextual, connected, collaborative, change-directed, conversational, and continuous learning environment. They desire technology in the classroom that is research-supported, teacher-developed, and student-advocated. In other words, kids require authentic learning. This presentation will focus upon how implementing a technology-integrated pedagogy (utilizing team-wide blogging, classroom discussion podcasting, disposable learning object screencasting, etc.) creates authentic learning, engagement, and achievement for all students."
A sampling of the breakout sessions include:
- Avoiding 10 Technology Project Management Disasters
- Technology Twitter and Video Chat to Connect
- Using Animation Station to Support Literacy
- Storytelling with Web Tools
- More Tools and Techniques with the SMART Board
- Integrating Technology with Instructional Strategies that Work
- Unleashing Writing Potential with Digital Storytelling
