Collaboration Idea

We are thinking about taking the flat stanely idea, and the digital storytelling idea, and having the kids research important events that have happened in the towns around the united states.   We want the students to find an important or historical event that they would like to know more about.  Then we would send some item like a stuff bear to the place where the event took place to get more information about the event.  We could send the item to a school, located near the place of the event, or we could send the item to a monument or museum if one exist for the event.  Again this is just a thought, if you have any suggestions please let me know.  Also if you are intersted in doing a project like this let me know.
