Celebration 2011 Math is Everywhere

Colby Middle School students worked in Mrs. Collins' math classroom to create books that not only told a story but included mathematical concepts.  The 6th graders enjoyed the project and the challenges that it provided them.  We learned about importing/exporting images and video.  Using a digital scanner, and uploading to a web based server program.  Tools we used in the process not only included the above mentioned equipment but a digital classroom blog with edmodo.com and mixbook.com to create a book.  Mrs. Collins worked hard to help the students improve their problem solving skills in dealing with word problems.  We've noticed a change in attitude and ability and we're proud of our students.  The project template has been attached to this discussion thread as with our rubric and book parts checklist we used with the class.
